Where’s Zach’s Bridge this Fall?

It’s the start of September, which, if you didn’t know, is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  In our world that means tons of events, fundraisers and significant amplification of all that happens in the world, from diagnosis, treatment, research, survivorship, and in the areas where we specialize, grief and support during the advanced stages and into bereavement.

While we think that every month should have the same amount of awareness activity going on, because this is something that people should think about only one of the year, we are happy to see much alignment across the pediatric cancer world to try to make things better, and, as we learned from Zach, Keep Moving Forward.

This month, we have some big things planned.

  • Brainstorm Summit – Jenn and Jon are speaking on two different panels at a conference focused on fighting pediatric brain cancer.
  • Curefest –  We’ll have a table at this gathering of a range of childhood cancer organizations, families and patients again this year, and look forward to meeting so many of our peers, and finding new people to help or serve as mentors via Zach’s Bridge.
  • Shh! We can’t tell you just yet – We have some big news planned to share with the Zach’s Bridge community, so watch this space for more coming soon.

And even though they aren’t in September, two of the best ways to give back and help families and patients in the late stages and bereavement is to support these fundraisers that we are participating in.

  • Jimmy Fund Walk – This is our 3rd year doing this, and once again, on October 6th, we’ll be walking for a team that raises money for pediatric palliative care at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund Clinic.  Jon’s fundraising page, Jenn’s fundraising page
  • Inaugural Zach’s Bridge Fundraiser – This is big news.  We are hosting an epic dinner with amazing Boston chefs on November 11.  If you can’t join us in person (there are still a few spots left), please consider donating.  And what better time to do that than during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
